About the role

We are seeking a proactive, detail-orientated Packaging Supervisor to lead our packaging

operations. You will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Packaging team, ensuring efficient,

compliant, and high-quality output in line with GMP, GDP, and MHRA standards.

This role involves managing staff, ensuring proper training and SOP compliance, producing

quality documentation, maintaining equipment and stock levels, and continuously improving

processes. The Packaging Supervisor will also play a crucial part in deviations, conducting

thorough root cause investigations, and driving the timely implementation of corrective and

preventive actions (CAPAs).

Key responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and manage the Packaging team, including planning rotas, monitoring performance,

and ensuring adequate cover for all shifts.

• Provide supportive management that motivates, develops, and coaches the team.

• Allocate resources effectively and reassign tasks as needed to meet deadlines and

maintain workflow.

• Promote a positive, collaborative team culture focused on quality and efficiency.

• Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all packaging operations are carried out in accordance with GMP, GDP, and

internal quality systems.

Write, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure

effective training and adherence.

Conduct and document deviation investigations and implement corrective/preventative

actions (CAPAs) in collaboration with QA.

Ensure batch documentation, logs, and checklists are completed accurately and on time.

Operational Oversight

Oversee the packaging process to ensure on-time, accurate, and high-quality output.

Liaise with Manufacturing and Quality departments to coordinate activities and resolve

issues.

Monitor KPIs, assess team and process performance, and recommend improvements to

the Packaging Manager.

Conduct area and batch pre-checks as required.

Stock & Equipment Management

Maintain accurate stock levels of packaging materials and consumables to ensure

uninterrupted operations.

Raise purchase orders for relevant goods and services.

Work with Engineering to ensure packaging equipment is maintained, calibrated, and

operating efficiently.

Identify opportunities for equipment or process improvements in collaboration with

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Strong working knowledge of GMP and GDP regulations.

• Excellent understanding of packaging processes and distribution logistics.

• High attention to detail with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage people and to lead, train and develop individuals and

teams.

• Competent in the use of stock control systems and Microsoft Office applications.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or distribution

environment.

• Experience of working within an MHRA-regulated facility.

• Experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry.

• Knowledge of controlled drug handling and compliance.

• IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.

• Experience with supplier management.

About the role

As a Quality Control Technician at ASPAR, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of our pharmaceutical products. Working as part of our dedicated QC team, you’ll carry out analytical testing and visual inspections at various stages of production, helping to uphold the high standards that our customers rely on.

This is a hands-on, detail-driven role where your precision and consistency directly contribute to the trust placed in our medicines by pharmacies, retailers, and the public.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in line with regulatory requirements and SOPs.
  • Accurately document and report test results, raising any out-of-specification results to senior team members.
  • Conduct visual and physical inspections to assess product integrity and packaging compliance.
  • Support stability studies and shelf-life evaluations as required.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibrations and records are up to date.
  • Assist in investigations of deviations and non-conformances, contributing to root cause analysis and CAPA development.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and adhere to all relevant quality, safety, and hygiene procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a QC, pharmaceutical, or laboratory setting is preferred
  • A scientific qualification (BTEC, HND, or degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field) is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of record-keeping
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and regulatory guidelines accurately
  • A team player who is proactive, dependable, and eager to contribute to continuous improvement
